I liked the movie even though we should of watched pride and prejudiced! I enjoyed seeing the comparison of the two and how she wrote about what she could relate to. I noticed how Mr lefroy was a butthole at first and so was Mr. Darcy. Also how Lydia was similar to Jane sister in the movie. How Mr Lefroy and Jane were going to run off like Lydia and Wickham did. The movie is saying that independence if scarce but it is impossible if you are strong enough to take of yourself as a women. Many people dont approve of it but it is possible

the movie was ok it was not dark knight, but it was interesting some parts were really funny. It was sorta annoying when the class went AWWWW to some parts. they were lots of connections i would call them out during the movie, i guess Jane wrote the story based on her life just made it happier at the end. The end was ehhh if Jane really did love that dude she should gone with him then figure out about the family later. It not toms fault the family is suffering... OH WELLL The book and the movie promoted Independence sorta but saying that it isn't easy so watch out.

I loved the movie very much. Thank you! I didn't like the ending much because it wasn't what I expected, but it was still a really good movie. Pretty much every part of the movie was a part in Pride and Prejudice. The walk: which symbolizes independence, Jane's family and Lizzy's family. Also, most of the characters from the movie are in the book. The movie was being realistic of how it would work out for independent women like Jane. It would not be the fantasy that Jane lived in Pride and Prejudice. The book's events do happen in the real life back then, but the ending wouldn't be the same, because that's reality.

What did I think of the movie? Well only that it is the best movie on Jane Austens life! I enjoyrd watching this movie because it is such a romantic/sad movie that makes people like me cry. This movie allowed me to see how harsh womens lives were back then. It also got me really mad because Jane was not able to marry the man she loved. Yet even after they seperated he showed her how much he still loved her by naming his first daughter Jane! Well there were also a lot of similarities in this movie and Pride and Prejudice. Jane reminded me of Elizabeth anf her pride but she also thought more of others lives than her owns, she could not be with Lefroy because his parents would no longer recieve the money he was getting from his uncle. Lefroy also had a drastic change just like Darcy did in the book. I also believe that Jane wrote her ending the way she did because of how her and her sister felt about evrything that was happening in the family for example Jane not being able to be with Lefroy and Cassandras future husband to have died. This movie in my opinion was showing how women were able to be independant on their own. The perfect example that demonstrates that is Jane she never married. Jane became a very famous writer even if she did not have the man she "needed".

I though that the movie was super cute! Even thought Jane did not get married with the guy she loved she did have the honor of Mr. Lefroy naming his daughter after her which was super adorable! I still think we should have seen Pride and Prejudice.

The connections I saw where the ones between Jane and Elizabeth, they are exactly alike. They both have a witty, smart, and stubborn attitude. It is too bad that their stories did not end the same way. :(
Also the connection between Mr. Lefroy and Mr. Darcy, besides both being extremely adorable, they are also gentlemen except one of them is poor and one is rich.

Becoming Jane was a pretty awesome movie. I keep on confusing Jane for Elizabeth! La! How strange! :D
So Sara, Lisa, and I were discussing which characters where whom in Pride and Prejudice and Austen's real life. This are our results:

Jane Austen: Lizzy! They have the same witty attitude.

Jane Bennet: Austen's sister. They are both sweet and kind.

Mr. Darcy: This was a tough one. At first, we thought that he was Mr. Darcy but then we saw that Mr. Lefroy was similar to Mr. Wickham too but then Again Mr. Wisley was rich and mysterious like Mr. Darcy as well. We decided that Mr. Darcy was a combination of Mr. Lefroy and Mr. Wisley.

Lady Catherine: Basically a given, she is Mr. Wisley's aunt.

Mary/Lydia: That one annoying girl singing in the piano in the beginning of the movie.

A lot of the events that occurred in Pride and Prejudice actually happened in Austen's life. Stuff like the elopement. I did not know that she almost ran away with Mr. Lefroy. Independence comes with a high cost.

The movie Becoming Jane was good. I like the ending especially because the one she wanted to be with he named his daughter Jane which was so cute. There were many connections to the book and the movie like for an example the one who wanted to marry her said "It is a truth universally acknowledged" that quote opens up the book of pride and prejudice. Another connection to the book was jane and tom run away and in the book lydia and wickham run away. The movie is saying about in dependence is you have to do the right things even it means you going to be alone

I really liked the movie. The guy who played Tom Lefroy was too cute haha. Anyway, it has a lot of connections to the book. For example, the title of my post is the very first line of the book, and in the movie the guy she was supposed to marry said it when they were walking and talking. That's where she got the line from. Another connection to the book was when Jane and Tom ran away, Lydia and Wickham ran away. Another connection was walking. There was lots of walking in the movie as well as in the book. And there's a lot more connections I can't think of right now. The movie is saying that you don't need a husband to be financially stable and to be happy.

I liked the movie, I wanted to know if I can borrow it actually. There were various connections between the Novel and the book like the personalities of the characters. Jane is obviously Elizabeth, They both play the piano, share the same opinions about a lot of things, speak in an intelligent manner, and both believe that they should only get married with someone who they actually love. The movie basically said that if you want to marry someone, don't marry them for the money. don't marry them if you feel like you won't be happy. If you can't find that then you will be fine on your own, if you make the effort. Yeah.

Jaaaaaaane! o.o

Soooo the movie about Jane Austen was awesome! Not only was Tom Lefroy insanely hot, but the story was so interesting. It was so similar to Pride and Prejudice i the sense that Austen seemed to have written it as the happy ending for her life. She mixed and created characters out of people in her life, including Mr. Wisley, her sister, and her parents. The economical situation was the same also. As she says in the movie about her book, to her sister, that too many extraordinary women are born into such low social classes. Which makes them seem worth less. There were so many connections, like how Mr. Wisley and the nice lovable side of Lefroy are Mr. Darcy. The bad sie of Lefroy is Wickham, and how he was going to take Jane on an elopement was what happened to Lydia. SO many connection! the movie says that independence is important, to Jane Austen it was everything. she admired independence more than love itself. As much as she wanted a happy ending, love could not be the answer to a perfectly happy life in her situation.

I really enjoyed the movie. It shows how the book Pride and Prejudice came to be and why. It helped us understand Jane Austen a bit more. The connections between the movie and the book as very similar. The mothers only goal was to get her daughters married. In order for either Jane or Elizabeth to get married had to be because of love and nothing else. Not even the money was important to them. In the movie Jane decides to run away and in the book Lydia runs away. The movie is saying that being independent is good and that you can actually be successful without having someone on your side.

According to austen i think she says anyone can be lizzy but it has its consequnces. In the book Lizzy has too much pride that she c ant see the world around her like it really is. Her pride makes her almost blind when she was asked by Darcy to marry her, instead of talking about how she feels and that she was hurt by Darcy because of the situation with Jane she pushed him away. It was until after reading the letter she knew the real story but because of her pride it could be too late. Anyone can be Jane but don't let so much pride get to your head that it makes to blind to the truth.

Jane or Liz?

Austen make it seem that been a Liz is good. We see this through out the book because Jane admires her and Liz admires herself as well. She is the main character and has a stronger personality than Jane. I think that Liz has some traits similar to Austen. Liz is very strong minded, independent, and outspoken. She is not like the other characters she does her own thing. Since she is very independent women want to be like that they do not see why they should get married. Women of today can do and become whatever they want. They do not need a man. Thats why I would like to be like Liz and other people would to.

I would say Elizabeth. Because she has pride and looks at what others don't. Also because she's more independent and does things on her own. Her walking by herself shows that she independent. Jane on the other hand is Just nice and doesn't seem do independent herself. She just wants to marry Bingley and that is it. So I would go with Elizabeth.

JANE I mean ELIZABETH.! JUST READ IT>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say Elizabeth because both the author and Elizabeth want to find love before getting married. Neither of the ladys just want a marriage they want the key thing to holding on the marriage, which is LOVE. I also believe its Elizabeth because she is THE MAIN CHARACTER and alot of stuff revolves around her. Think about the whole Jane and Bingly thing, and how it got to Elizabeth and Darcy had to apologize in his letter. It all because its better to be Elizabeth. Look at the change that she is in now. She started off feelinging herself, and everytime she seen Darcy she always bring up the past and tell him what he did wrong. Then slowly she started to realizeher pride was getting in the way of her life, and love, and the first step to change is admting it and she did that. Don't get me wrong through she has a huge sense of independence but with Darcy he might can help trust and rely on other peopl a little more. So I think Jane Austen would like us to be Elizabeth and not Jane. lol

It is better to be more like Elizabeth. I say this because the book is based on Elizabeth, she is the main character. Austen just wants to show how women need to grow and learn from different situation. She gives Elizabeth a personality that almost every women can relate to. She also puts her in situations that most women can relate to. Elizabeth is amazing she is just stands up for what she believes and doesnt let anyone change her. Austnen portraying her to learn and accept new things is her saying she wants people to be more like Elizabeth.

I think Austen is telling her readers to be more like Elizabeth because through out the book we see Elizabeth growing into a better person. Where she was this girl who always judge people before she actually get to know them. Now later on in the book she has less pride where she is seeing people for them and seeing why they do the things they do. Especially with Darcy she didn't like him at all at first and when she started to be around more and more when Jane was sick she seen the real him and thinks he is a good guy. Elizabeth hated the fact that Jane is thinks everyone is innocent but she is realizing that you just can't judge and recognize he pride.
