Adrienne Rich's essay
I agree with Adrienne's rich's essay in the aspect that women should be respected and at the same level as men. Women are definitely as capable to do anything a man is capable of. The essay upset me when Adrienne brought up situations in which women were abused and disrespected in he most humiliating and inappropriate ways. Now women are still discriminated at times eve though there are laws of equal treatment and whatnot. Even though there is respect written down as laws on paper does not mean that men will respect women. Adrienne Rich and I am sure a few others definitely made an impact on America because women have gained more power now then ever before. In both legal and social aspects.

I agree that even though it is written on paper that women should be treated equally does not mean that its put into action.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this. Women are caplable of doing the same thing any man can do. I also agree with the part where Sara say's that Adrienne Rich and other has made an impac on others. Take Rosa Parks for example, she may have denied to move to the back of the bus for blacks but it took WOMEN to change the world slowly. Not a man, but a women and she still have a impact on lives today.
ReplyDeleteFor a second I thought JaMy'a was going to steal my comment. But...when you think about laws that are written on paper, do those laws change society? Supposedly, racial segregation was outlawed in the 1960s. Does it still exist? And Title IX was passed in the 1970s. It was supposed to give women equal opportunities for education, etc. Did it work?
